Why oranges are called chinos in puerto rico?

Travel Tips
They're called "chinas"......and the reason for this is that in Puerto Rico the common name used to describe the color orange is "china" o "chino". The correct spanish word for the color orange is "naranjado"....that is why in most, if not in all, latin-speaking countries an orange is called a "naranja".
I hope this answered your question.
Best of Luck!

Others
In Puerto Rico we call oranges "chinas" and it is because of the color orange is referred to as chinita or china but the correct word in castellano would be "anaranjado" which is why most other spanish speaking nations call oranges "naranjas".
