+ I just got back, and the population outside the city is sparse. It is farming and agricultural. One of the places north east has huge ponds where they grow the shrimp for Long John Silvers restaurants. If you are going there bring plenty of breakfast cereal as it costs about 10 buck a box. (An opportunity for capitalism) Once you cross the Wallace river you won't see many houses per mile. maybe 3 or 4.

The population distribution is mostly the same throughout Belize, because its a relative small country. Population estimated for 2005 is a bit less than 300,000 people. They belong to the following groups: 1) Mestizos (account for 52% of the population); 2) Criolles (caribbean descendants); 3) Indigenous people; 4) Garifunas and 5) Other nationalities including indians, chinese and amish people.
There is almost an equal distribution of population in the urban areas and the rural areas.
Most of the population is concentrated in the central region of Belize where the major cities are (Belize city and Belmopan).
