What countries make up latin america? if you're from S.A does that make you latin? |
Travel Info Just wondering..its a bit confusing. Travel Tips Latin America is the central and south american countries that speak spanish or portuguese. they are Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicuagua, Guatamala, panama, El Salvador, Hondurus, Columbia, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, Chilie, Ecuador, Argentina, Uraguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, sometimes Dominican Republic is also included Just because your South american , does not mean your latin american, I live in Guyana, which is one of the three guianas (Guyana-english, Suriname-Dutch and French Guiana - french) these are on the South american continent but are classed as not Latin Confusion can arise as the Rio Group which is a group of latin countries are attending a conference at the moment in Guyana, which is a member of the group but not a latin american country but is classed as Caribbean, (Same classification as Suriname and french guiana (as well as Belize)) So its not easy to understand, but then there is no clear cut answer. The traditional term latin america is not as clear cut as it was. hope i have not confused you further telling you as it is Source(s): im in South america, but not Latin America, but we are hosting a Latin American Conference Other Travel Tips There is Central America also, which sometimes is taken to be part of South America. Central America is Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Belize, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. Therefore South America stars from Colombia and Venezuela to Argentina (including Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana) . Latin means you come from a Spanish-speaking country like most of the countries in South and Central America. So if you're from Suriname which is located in South America, you're not considered latin because spanish is not your first language. 21 countries form the Latin America. This region is called Latin America because the people of these countries speak languages that started of latin, like: Spanish, French, Portuguese (my languages) The Latin america is formated by Central America, South America e some countries of Caribe. Bye Technically speaking Latin America are all the countries in America that speak romance-languages that come from Latin; (Spanish, Portuguese or French), however the term is more widely used for American countries that speak Spanish, and Portuguese since these two languages are very similar and represent more the latin culture. I don't think French-speaking countries consider themselves "latin". Officially speaking, Latin American countries include Mexico (which is part of North America, although everybody makes the mistake of putting it in Central America), all the countries of Central America except Belize (which has English as its main language), all countries in South America except for Suriname (Dutch) and Guyana (English). It also includes all the Spanish and French-speaking countries of the Caribbean, there are no Portuguese-speaking countries in the caribbean islands. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/latin_ameri... http://www.nationsonline.org/oneworld/am... |
