Has anyone drove in Central America?

Travel Info
I want to drive from the United States though Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua into Costa Rico. Has anyone done a trip like this and would like to share his/her experiences. I have read a bit about what to expect and it sounds like it would be a very educational trip.

Travel Tips
I made the exact same trip 30 years ago and did just fine. Roads actually were pretty good - fortunately the car held up so I didn't have to use a mechanic.

I did get stuck in the sand and fortunately some folks came along with a winch on their pickup and hauled me out. Another time, a couple of guys from a little house came over and dug me out by hand -

By all means, if someone helps you, offer the guy US$5.00 or US$10.00. or the equivalent in local currency.

Whenever you come in contact with anyone, make sure you ask about their health and how their family is doing. To not do this is rude.

Have a great time - I'd take the Lonely Planet guide to Mexico and to every country you are visiting. Those guides are outstanding.

Others
suscribe first to the program "I survived" from teh National Geografic channel, maybe you can sell your story when you get back.

I麓m sure it will be fun.
