What is the best Central American country to travel? |
Travel Info I have a free trip to Central America and I need to make up my mind about which country to choose. Travel Tips I would go to Costa Rica. Beaches, volcanoes, coffee plantations, hot springs, nightlife in San Jose. Lots to do and see and friendly people. They have no formal army and are always neutral (like Switzerland) so it is safe. Panama would be my second choice. Source(s): I have been twice. Other Travel Tips ...Belize.... absolutely wonderful... First of all I love latin america and am sooo jealous of you! I can say I have always wanted to go to Costa Rica and have not yet had the chance to go so that is def one of my top choices. But I did have the opportunity to go on a global village trip to Guatemala and build houses for families living in poverty and the culture and the people were just amazing! Then there is Mexico of course but you could go there anytime. I have been to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico-gorgeous! I recommend going there if you choose Mexico. If I had a free trip though I would choose Costa Rica-beaches, rain forest, volcanoes! But it will be the most expensive. It is very touristy in a lot of areas so I am told by friends who studied abroad there. So if you are running on a small budget once you get there I would choose somewhere like Guatemala or Mexico. Cuidate y buena suerte Belize is definitely the place to go. Depending on what you like, it has a lot to offer. First off there are the Maya ruins of which one of the most re-known is Altun Ha. If I am not mistaken, this is where one of the Mayan crystal skulls was found. There is also Xunantunich, which is in the Northern region. When you have reached the top, you can see Mexico City from there!!. There is also snorkeling in the Cayes. There is the Blue Hole. One is located inland on the Hummingbird Highway. It is a spot about 20 to 30 feet in diameter where the water is deep blue and around it is shallow. It is as if someone dug a hole, but is natural. There is also one around the cayes and it is rumored that both are interconnected. It has never been proven though. I can go on and on. People are friendly, food's great. I absolutely love it. BY coming to Honduras you can have the opportunity to combine Caribbean destinations (Bay Islands, by far the BEST beaches in all Central America, 2nd largest barrier reef in the world), Ruins (Mayan Ruins), ecotourism (PICO BONITO RESERVE, RIVER RAFTING ETC.).
