Is it better to travel to Ecuador or Chili in June and July?

Travel Info
I am going to be in South America for 5 1/2 weeks this summer and start in Cusco (Machu Picchu of course) and can not decided if I should try and go to Ecuador or Chili in addition to seeing more of Peru before I fly out of Lima. Any suggestions? Also, my friend is going to be with me at the beginning for the hike and will be around a few days after that, what is good to do in and around Cusco? Thanks a bunch!

Travel Tips
The Southern Hemisphere has its Winter from June to August, so the farther you go to the South, the colder it will be. I'd visit Ecuador, which technically doesn't have a Winter because it's sitting right between the Northern and Southern Hemisphere (That's why they call it Equator Line). By the way, the name is Chile. Chili is what you put in your Mexican food. Source(s): South American
Other Travel Tips
Chile all year round.
and if you have some time left, visit Argentina too.
I think Ecuador would be better at that time of year
