Do I need a passport to travel to Colombia?

Travel Info
I'm traveling to Bogota, Colombia from the US & I don't know if I need a passport. If so, do I need anything else besides a passport to be eligible to enter the country?

Travel Tips
Yes you require a valid US passport in order to enter Columbia. You do NOT require a travel visa, as confirmed by our US government Dept. of State - Travel web site - http://www.visa4you.net/colombia-visa.ht...

You can print out the US passport forms online and search for a local servicing center. You need to have two photos (they take it at many passport servicing centers or get it at a photo development store like Wolf's Camera). It will cost around $60.00 and take approximately 8-10 weeks to arrive at your home. To expedite the request you can pay an extra $60.00. http://www.usps.com/passport/

Also, please check the US Department of State - Travel Advisory for Columbia. You need to take extra caution when traveling there. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw...

Happy and safe travels!! :)

yes you need a passport, and an entry visa. expect heavy treatment when returning to the us. they will be searching for any drugs, and you are a prime target when you return. also, do NOT bring anything back for someone else. it'll probably be an attempt to smuggle coke with you as the courrier. if you get caught with anything, go straight to prison, do not pass go, do not collect $200.
You need a passport to leave the United States anywhere in the world now even Canada and Mexico. You do not need anything else to get into colombia (I wen there on a missions trip 2 years ago)....however to leave Colombia you will need about $20 as a fee to leave, and you will get a recepit from them that you will need to keep.

oh, and above is wrong about the visa (assuming you are not going to stay there for an extended period of time)...I was there for a week and had no need for a visa, just a passport. And they won't be doing super searches on you for drugs either. But he is right do not take anything on for other peopel, that is just common sense.
Yes you definitely need a passport, and no you do not need a visa, but you are not allowed to be in the country for more than 60 or 90 days as a tourist (depending on the agent you get at the airport). You do have to pay an exit fee when you leave, not sure how much, i think someone else mentioned it.

Have a great time! :-)
Yes you need to have a passport to travel pretty much anywhere now a days. Especially if you are from U.S. traveling over seas. Have fun
