Would a homestay program in Paraguay for 6 weeks make me fluent in Spanish? |
Travel Info I took spanish for 5 years and reached a status of"advanced Intermediate" in Spanish. I also speak French which made Spanish a lot easier to learn. Do you think that by living with a family for 6 weeks will make me fluent in Spanish? Travel Tips Well, a month and a half is not too long, it all depends on your actual current level, but it will most certainly will get you close to fluency!! Don't miss that opportunity!! Go for it. Others it's worth a try ahh it probably would if they speak spanish there then yeah. What a great opportunity! Do it! "Fluency" is difficult to achieve in another language and you may not achieve that - but your Spanish skills will certainly be improved by 6 weeks in Paraguay. Does the program include language classes? Six weeks staying in a home should give you a good basis. But having intensive language classes will add to the experiece and get you speaking fluently. Is there a reason you chose Paraguay? Depending on where you go you will also have to get used to the dialect used in the area. Paraguayans also speak Guarani, their native indigenous language. So it depends who you stay with in Paraguay because they may just speak Guarani among themselves. Was there on Holiday...and almost everyone speaks Spanish but in the town I stayed in, Gurani was mostly spoken. |
