Why Honduras is a dangerous place to leave? |
Travel Info Becasue alot of people say that Honduras is a bad plac to leave adn I want to know if thats true because my mom she is from Honduras and she's moving over there Travel Tips Every place has its good points and bad points. Honduras is having a bad reputation due to the increase violence of its gangs, namely the Mara Salvatrucha. Also like any development country it has a good amount of violent crime due to the increased poverty and lack of opportunities for the young and restless. But, is it more dangerous than any other typical US city? It is really hard to say. Check the statistics of your town or just open any news and you will be amazed. I live in a large city in the US and I bet you that last night there were several crimes, including murder, rape, robbery, assault, etc. It is up to all of us to make our cities and towns a better place. With tons of common sense and a bit of good luck one can avoid most obvious dangers. But some times one is at the wrong time and the wrong place and in those cases it does not matter which city or country one is. I have lived and traveled in many places that are considered "dangerous", and have never had any real problem. while traveling and living in those places I have been blessed enough to have meet some wonderful friends and experienced some of my best experiences in my life. There are no guarantees in life but one has to concentrate in the positive aspects of it. If your Mom decides to come back to Honduras she will have a wonderful time. She has the good fortune to have a caring daughter and the experience of having lived in a foreign country. Source(s): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/mara_salvat... Other Travel Tips I'm guessing you are asking is Honduras is a bad place to live? I am a United States expat who has been living in Honduras for twelve years and it is no worse than some places i have lived in the U.S. In many ways it's better than those same places. Hope this sets your mind at ease. Dangerous? Yes, but with the right precautions is a livable place. In the large cities must be aware of your surroundings. In the countryside maybe not as bad. But still must be alert. My concern would be the air pollution in the big cities. The cars and trucks put off terrible pollution. I guess they don't have guidelines like the U.S. The times I have visited it is very noticable. Probbaly not in the countryside so bad. Overall, I think the people are very helpful and nice. Good Luck! there are areas that are safer than others. Just like everywhere else in the world. I personally didn't like San Pedro Sula (lived there for 3 months) but had no problems anywhere in the country. It is very beautiful and the people are usually warm and friendly. If your Mom is from there, it should be no problem for her. Do you still have family there? OK, I used to live in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and as you might know, honduras is a third world country so dont expect much technological advancement, entertainment, and life style. The country is control mostly by the rich people who are not even honduran, many are foreigner. That;s why the economy of the country and the culture is very poor. People are not very educated and even if they were they have hard time looking for jobs. Because of that crimes has been up!! Their is a lot of express kidnapping occuring every now and then. People cant do business in peace becasue gang banger are charging some "protection fee" and if they dont agree to pay who knows what they might to do you. People are getting robbed and worst case killed for stealing their cellphones!!! I know you are worried about your mum (I would be too), but is she lived before in Honduras she knows how it is over there and she'll know how to take care of herself!! Like in any other place around the world you cant prevent things happening to you, one has to be careful!! I was born and raised in Honduras for 17 years, now i reside in US. |
