Im going to mexico and taking my 5 year old what will he need to cross the border? |
Travel Info we will be driving both parents will be with him Travel Tips To go into Mexico a birth certificate or Passport. To come out of Mexico you should have a Passport for everyone but they aren't enforcing it yet but will. Remember you must register your vehicle if you are driving more then 30 miles into Mexico-insurance,registration and title and a credit card are all REQUIRED-dont even think one of those things aren't important or it will be a short trip. Others get him a passport. With that and both parents present, you won't have any problem. Problems come when one parent is absent. If you don't have time to get a passport, a birth certificate should work, but a passport is always better. US insurance doesn't cover u in MX. If u are in an accident & can't show proof of insurance - it's off to jail u go & the car gets impounded. P/up some insurance before u cross into MX . . . you dont need a passport yet for him.. just both parents have to go ,, or the one that isnt going has to sign a notorized paper sayin he can go.. all you need is his birth certificate.. it will say you about 150 if you dont get the passport, but if you are traveling after jan 2008 you will need a passport for him.. im going there myself with 2 children |
