Been to Cancan and The Mexican Riviera many times, and have bought jewelry, and a watch. The most important thing is not to get rooked into a cheap knock-off. Educate yourself about quality jewelry before you go, especially silver, gem stones, and watches. Silver should have the .925 sterling stamp, or don't bother. Pay what you want; if you want something, then it is a good deal. As a general rule, I do not pay more than $2 US per gram for silver, but will pay more for craftsmanship and artistry. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO HAGGLE!!! If you see a 20" chain with a pendant that you like, and it lists at $100 US, ask them to weigh it. If the weight for the chain and the pendant comes to 24 grams, then I would offer $50 US and meet them somewhere around 65-70. Or I would say "sixty US", and if they didn't come down to that price, I would walk. You would be surprised how many will take the sale after you turned your back and started away. Always shake hands when the deal is done and be sure to look them in the eye. My favorite places to shop for jewelry is Kulkulcan Plaza, and Coral Negro. And enjoy the pina coladas.
