Can anyone tell me about the people of the state of Jalisco in Mexico? |
Travel Info My Dad is from there and I just want to learn about the people. It interests me because I have relatives from there who don't look like stereotypical Mexicans. I have relatives who are light and few others that look asian. Nobody from my family is short like a midget and has a heavy tan like the pure native people that are mostly found down south like in Oaxaca and Morelos. When me and my family go to Mexico people from there think we're from Chihuahua or Jalisco. Travel Tips Hi, my parents are from Amacueca, Jalisco. Well, 90 percent of the people are white with brown or blonde hair....some have brown eyes and some have light-colored eyes. There aren't many dark-skinned people in Jalisco. My mom's side of the family is all white...she has siblings that are blonde and with light-colored eyes. She always tells me her sister, blonde hair and blue eyes, would always be mistaken for an American girl. My dad's family is a bit darker than my mom's, but still pretty white compared to the typical Mexican portrayed in the States. Others hahah ok well my mom is from tecolotlan jalisco and ill tell u this.. i dont look mexican at all.. iam light skined and yes i guess u can say i have asian eyes lol ppl always think iam half white half asian but u cant put a color or feature when u go there its a blend of everythin, thats wat makes it soo much fun b/c u meet al kinds of ppl there.. im glad that theres diversity in jalisco.. hey atleast even if they confuse u with morelos they are still callin u mexican.. they just assume and call me "gringa".annoyin after a few times Many Jaliscenses are of Spanish descent, also the French influence is stong there. Guadalajara has always been one of Mexico's main cities, and the big cities always attracted European immigrants. As far as the Asian element, the coast of Jalisco was a major part of the Galleon trade with the Philippines, so some Filipinos may have settled there - also many Mexican cities have Chinese barrios. |
