What is the best way to bring prescription drugs across the border without getting caught? |
Travel Info I want to purchase an over the counter medicine but I dont want to bother getting searched and I dont know what is legal and what is not and if there is a "best" way of doing so. Travel Tips honestly...i hope i'm not giving you bad advice here...but i used to live in mexico and i would just put them in my suitcase and that's it. (i have seen ederly mexican women give their prescriptions to the bus driver, and he puts them in his pockets. ) no border patrol officer ever asked me about it. and i've had my things sniffed by dogs and put under the xray machine. i had prescription acne medication that is illegal in the US, and there was no issue. technically, you can't bring any medications over unless you have a prescription by a US doctor. if you get caught, just give up the meds. what do you want to buy anyways??? i mean, i hope i didn't just advice someone who was up to something malicious. Others put them in a balloon and swallow them. Or while you are in Maxico, just have the doctor you are getting them from right you out a prescription. The best way is to take them while you are there. Seriously, don't mess around with buying controlled substances without a valid prescription. People have landed in jail in Mexico. Not where you would like to spend the next 6 months or however long. Check and double check and then follow the rules. The law is the law and they can tell just by looking at you that something is amiss. God Bless You, Be Good. Pay a MX Doctor 50 pesos to write you a script for the meds even tho u don't need one. NOW, just cross the border & if asked, show the script. Kinda makes sense . . . Depending on what kind of medicine it is, not on the forbidden schedule, not a problem. Put it in your laundry bag and dummy up. Best to get a prescription from a US doctor...the farmacia will give you your prescription back after he fills it. The farmacia will tell you what is forbidden, in some stores the list is posted. Well, one extreme method is to put your medicine/substance in a small Ziploc bag. Then introduce the small bag in a bigger Ziploc bag and then fill the rest of the big bag with shampoo or liquid soap. That way the dogs can not smell it. Make sure there is no way the big bag can explode, you should consider wrapping it carefully. Hope it works, Jp |
