I'm traveling to Mexico soon and I need suggestions on keeping my gastrointestinal system healthy.? |
Travel Info Does anyone have advise on eating, drinking, dos and don'ts, etc.? Will I need any medications that I should keep on hand for my travel? Thanks........ Travel Tips Drink only corona (unopened corona). Eat only weed. Others There is NO problem with that here in Mexico. EAT EVERYTHING YOU WANT!! Just don't get dissapointed when you see that us Mexicans DON'T go around riding in donkeys and wearing big hats. Just one thing, if you eat good there and when you come to Mexico you eat very bad you will get a disease that we call "La venganza de Moctezuma" that is when you have A LOT (really a lot!!!!!) of diahrrea. Good Luck. Live in Mexico..... my family and i go to mexico all the time and as long as you drink bottled water you should be fine. In resorts the food and water is ok to eat and drink. ok, first thing to ease your mind...mexicans don't want to get sick either! so don't get paranoid...eat where you see others eating, and you're good. a few warnings though....because you are on vacation and may already have a nervous stomach, and also your body has not had the time to adjust to the bacterias.. firstly, DON'T eat fruit from any kind of stand, or candy that is unwrapped. in general, taco stands are safe, but go to the ones where you see crowds. for water, drink it bottled, obviously. if you order it at the restaurant and it comes in a glass...don't panic...they will NOT serve you tap water, you don't need to worry. if you are, but don't want to seem rude, ask for an "agua mineral" instead (sparkling water) DO NOT order a salad!! even the best of places can make a mistake, and you could end up sick. it's not very bad, but since you're on vacation...you don't want to waste even a day. fresh fruits and vegis at restaurants are totally fine...but lettuce is just so difficult to properly wash, it's not worth the risk. and don't go totally crazy on spices or fatty foods....this isn't specific to mexico..it's just that if you are on vacation and eat a LOT of some things that are different, it's not so good. if you want to try something new, just eat slowly, don't over eat, and you should be just fine! seriously, i hit the ground running when i moved there, and i was never ill but one single time..and it was at the beach, with a salad. for medications...well, if you want to pack some pepto...you can. if you don't want to, but you need something, you want to look for "Buscapina" it's for women's menstral cramps, but also stomach type problems. but they have US brand meds as well, so don't worry, you'll find what you need at any pharmacy. also...keep in mind that the beers in mexico are a bit...well, they aren't stronger, but..they feel that way in your stomach. i could drink a LOT of beer in the US and be fine, but for some reason mexican beer starts to naw at my stomach. don't get me wrong...i love it (try micheladas!!) but..i'm just saying, be aware of how you are feeling and try and eat while drinking, if that's whta you choose to do. It depends if you what to have fun or get something educational like history or culture. for experience Cancun would be my best advise to you i have been there before and it's combined with culture and fun. the night life is wonderful you could get in t very exclusive clubs like cocobongo, The City, Senior Frog, and many more this three were the ones that i found were very fun. there are choices if you what a tour then you get a pass on all the clubs is like if you were in a bus were every hour they will call you up and go to a different one they are really the most exclusive one and you get open bar and someone that will be always asking if you need something. if you what to come with some culture there are the pyramids Tulum, chichen itza, and many more you could visit this web if you want to see pictures http://olivier.schmitt1.free.fr/photos/c... Don't eat! |
