Travel Tips
In real life, the "below average" Mexican can exist on about $400-$500 per month. Now understand that I said exist. Most of the middle class spend about $600-$700 per month to have a little better lifestyle.

If you are from the U.S. and thinking about living in Mexico, a very simple formula to use is to take your total monthly expenses here in the U.S. and divide cut it in half. That will give you an approximate amount of money you will need to MAINTAIN your current lifestyle.

If you want more info, I suggest you look above my post to a person named "sparks" and go to his website. He has some great info on living in the state of Jaliso which is probably the best place to live in Mexico.

Good luck.

Nothing. It costs the average American hundreds, though.
Please describe an average Mexican
http://costalegre.blogspot.com/...
Costs vary depending on the part of the country you plan on relocationg to. A book written by Live Better South of the Border in Mexico by Mexico Mike Nelson breaks down the areas to upper Baja and lower Baja as well as the various zones of mainland Mexico. His book breaks out each cost component, food, electrical, gas, entertainment, gasoline, rent, etc. In general if you rent your costs will be more than if you own property. Overall if you own expect to live well on $1200/mo. If you rent it can vary from $1400 to $1800/month for expenses. This takes into account that you are not going to live like a hermitt. You can live on less but you will sacrafice the general lifestyle accustomed to in the states. Inflation is running about 9% but the government states it is 4%. Don't believe them.
I live in Morelia, M茅xico http://www.visitmorelia.com, but it depends on many things.

First the city, coast cities are more expensive
The average mexican spends maybe $1,000 USD, but then again, what is an average mexican?

If you earn dollars and spend in mexican pesos everything will seem a lot cheaper.

If you plan to work here be ready to earn a lot less than you earn in the US, but then again things are cheaper.
If by average you mean middle class, somewhere around $2,000 or $2,500 us dollars per month.
