When is it best to go to Monterrey, Mexico? |
Travel Info I want to study abroad and have the choice of studying during the Fall Semester of '07 which is August - December, or Spring Semester of '08 which is January - May. This will be done at el Tecnologico de Moneterrey, Campus Monterrey. When should I go, fall or spring? Anyone have personal experience? Any idea what the climate is like during either times? Help? Anyone? Travel Tips Monterrey is very hot and during the winter it can get very cold and rainy. It麓s an industrial city, it麓s dry so there麓s no much vegetation. There麓s money, so you can find nice buildings, malls, etc...The view of the big blue marble mountains that sorround the city is beautiful. It is a very americanized city, there are no mercados, kids send letter to Santa instead of Los Reyes and on the Day of the Dead people bring to the cementery flowers instead of the banquet ofrenda. The food is simple, lots of beef and baby goat. They get their veggies on their salsa, and that麓s it. It is the number one city in the world for drinking pop (2 per capita per day). They watch a lot of commercial tv, soaps, gossip shows,... are also great fans of their soccer teams, and not very much into reading or going to museums or art excibits. People tend to be naive and hard working but also supperficial, not open to people from outside or with different points of view. Source(s): Soy regiomontana. Other Travel Tips Aguascalientes is an industrilized Mexican city, but it is not an americanized town. Most people from Monterrey think the most valueable things in their city are SAM麓s, HEB麓s, Applebees, that the US is very close, their hospitals because they have American equipment, and so on. Monterrey is beautiful! I can best compare it to Toronto. There is alot of American ammenities there-food chains, department stores even a casino! Traffic is very conjested and life is very fast! The state of Coahuila is about 45 minutes away, which is also very beautiful-1400+ft above sea level, surrounded by mountains-breath taking! Monterry is very HOT-climate wise in the summer (air conditioning is a must!) April-Sept. Cools down-alot in Oct-March-you will definatly need your winter gear. Hope this helps! Why don't you attending Tec de Monterrey in Guadalajara. The climate is far better & a lot of history surrounds the city. Anytime is the best time to attend as Guadalajara is a mile high city & the climate hardly changes. i live here . . . |
