Do I have to go to same Mx.border or can I go to nearest border to renew my truck permit?

Travel Info
I have to renew my permit q 6 months at the Mexican border. My truck is not 10 years old, so I cannot legalize it in Mx. Can I go to the nearest border crossing rather than the one I came through. I live in central Mexico, it is a long way to the borders.
Please advise. Of course I'd love to legalize, but I have an FM 2 and I'm NOT a tourist. I can become a Mx. citizen if I wish in 3 years, but I do not think that will affect the truck's legalization.

Travel Tips
Nearest .... however it was explained to you that you don't need to renew as long as you visa is valid Source(s): http://sparks-mexico.com/

Other Travel Tips
Sparks is absolutely wrong. The car's visa is 6 months and not related to my FM2.

A long time ago there were people that got the permits for you at the border without having the car present, I do not know if they still do that. I heard that as an American citizen you do not have to get a permit, and you have a job there, so that helps. Finally yes you can cross any border and get a new permit. I am from Mexico and I used to own US cars.
U can go to any border to renew
