Mexico questions!? |
Travel Info When I go to Cuernavaca and Mexico City this summer will I be able to find lots of unique and pretty clothing for cheap prices. I am hoping to buy skirts and dresses and jewlery...anyone ever been who knows about the shopping scene? Also, anyone know about the water situation...should I just bring cases of bottled water from the U.S. or is it safe to drink water there? Travel Tips about the water, mexicans don't drink the water either, so obviously there is plenty of bottled water. in fact, you can buy those huge containers that they deliver in trucks, for about 19 pesos (once you've paid for the container...about 40 pesos) as for clothes...yeah, don't want to rain on your parade either but....the clothes are horribly expensive. really, it's terrible!!! clothing is NOT cheap in mexico, that's why people come up the the US to buy their clothes! unless you want to look like a peasant girl...and by all means do NOT dress this way while actually IN mexico...nobody does it. seriously, don't plan on buying clothes in mexico. if you do, you'll overpay and most likely fall into a touristic idea of what mexicans wear, when they actually wear nothing like what you are wanting to buy. Source(s): lived in mexico Other Travel Tips the water in the city is fine to drink, may just give you a little upset stomach or diarhea, just take some pepto, as far as the shopping scene, everything is priced to sell, nothing costs alot out there, and at most of the locals little stands for merchandise, you can haggle with them to bring the price down, just try to do it, they will act like they are mad, but just keep doing it and if they dont agree, walk away, most of the time they will call you back over, just act like you really really want whatever it is your looking at Do not drink the water in Mexico, no matter the location. You can buy drinking water once you're there. Jewelry in Mexico is mostly silver, not much gold. Check the dollar amount of goods you are allowed to bring back before you go shopping. I don't mean to rain on your parade, but as I was just browsing the Yahoo news, it had a headline about dengue fever being a major concern right now. For more information. please look for the article. It said they were sending hundreds of workers to spray major tourist areas. The article itself was written from Mexico City. Cases of bottled water on the plane --- you're not going on a safari. Buy bottled water in Mexico .... everyone drinks it. You'll find interesting things if you want to dress like a peasant girl or a tourist gone wild .... but cheap ? Mexico is not really cheap http://sparks-cuernavaca.blogspot.com/... |
