You may drive to Mexico with only a birth certificate and picture I.D. After jan. 2008 you will need a passport for all types of travel to and from Mexico. You can read the regulations for yourself for your own peace of mind at the website listed below. travel.state.gov You can get INTO Mexico withour a Passport but you NEED a Passport to RETURN to the U.S. So... get a Passport... it's no big deal.! You can if you have a border crossing card combination B1/B2 visa. As long as you are a Mexican national and resident and are only going about 25 miles into the border. U.S. legal permanent residents need to show their greencards. U.S. citizens need to show their passports, especially if they're flying into Mexico. YOU CAN GO INTO MEXICO WITHOUT A PASSPORT, BUT THAT IS ONLY OK IF YOU DONT PLAN TO TOUR MEX. OR GOING INTO THE INTERIOR. IF YOU PLAN TO GO TO THE INTERIOR WHICH, IS BEYON THE BORDER TOWNS, YOU WILL NEED A TRAVEL PERMIT, ISSUED BY THE MEX. DEPT OF TOURISM, IF DRIVING IT IS ADVISABLE TO ALSO BUY A MEX. INSURANCE POLICY FOR THE TIME YOU WILL SPEND IN MEX. IF YOU DONT HAVE AN IDENTIFICATION SUCH AS A DRIVERS LICENSE, OR A BIRTH CERTIFICATE, ITS POSSIBLE THAT YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS REENTERING THE U.S.A. PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. |
