Travel Info Where will we anglos go if the southwest becomes all Mexican and will Mexico welcome us as ex-patroits? Travel Tips Ain't gonna happen. Mexicans are rascist too.....or didn't you know that towards us Americans of Mexican descent. Even though our homeland is just across the border,we have to be just as "American " as the gringos,but we still have to prove we're just as "Mexican" as our ancestors. Kinda like walking a tightrope. Others I'm sure if you are not a racist they will treat you just fine. I have been around lots of Mexicans all my life. I treat them how I would want to be treated and we get along great. I get invited into their homes to share their food and culture and I consider myself pretty rich (figuratively) for it. There's bound to be some that will be mean to you because they are racist against whites, but that's how it goes, all races have a percentage of people that make their race look bad. I agree that if you are nice to them and not act racist, you should get along fine with Mexican people. There are people that are mean, just like in every country, but for the most part they are very nice people. My husband is from Mexico and I have worked with a lot of Mexican people in the past (in McDonalds and housecleaning). They have always liked me because I am open about them and their culture. I try to speak to them in Spanish and they in English, we don't judge each other just because we don't speak 100% in each others language. Now there are a few that I didn't get along with, but that is just a handful. Right now at my job I get along with all the Mexican people there fine, its the guy from El Salvador that is making problems (but I knew one girl from El Salvador that was very nice, just goes to prove that some people are nice and some mean from everywhere in the world). I have also worked in construction with a few Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Brazilians, a Asian guy, and two other Americans. Guess who lasted only a few weeks?!?! The Americans. Some people from other countries work a lot harder than SOME Americans and don't complain as much (understand I said some, some americans work hard, but alot complain and procrastinate). There is no problem working or living side-by-side with our Mexican neighbors, and as long as you go with an open mind, you will be fine. The people that I have met in and from Mexico are great, nice, friendly people. Same place they are going now.... away from the city, away from the suburbs and out into the country!! Some of them are even moving to Mexico, I guess they are using reverse psychoclogy on them! teach them a thing or two!... =O)... |
