Why do MANY Americans think Mexico is in South America?? |
Travel Info Well, it isn't. It's in NORTH America. It peeves me SO BAD when I click on a random site and Mexico is under "Central and South America , or the worst of all, every time I play Risk (the board game), and Mexico's territory is under "Central America" ...... AHHHRGGGHHH! I've emailed Parker Brothers many times, no answer. Travel Tips IGNORANCE, they can not grasp the idea that a country with a different culture is in the same continent. They can think of Canada because it is north of the USA, and there is no way of getting around that. Others well most people today are idiots so there you go......... I don't know a single person who thinks that, everyone I know thinks Mexico is part of North America. However you seem to have some issues with it, you need to lighten up. Most people are geographically challenged, so you are wasting your time. That's not as bad as being told by customer support over the phone that they couldn't help me because I don't live in the US.....They apparently thought "New Mexico" was not a US state. ARGH! Your answer's simple, like it or not. Mexico is south-of-the-border, and that's all we care about it. I've never really thought of it as a part of Central America, but, I could guess that due to the similarity of the native population vis-a-vis the European population of the United States which is still the majority (for now anyway), we have a tendency to match Mexico and Central America. Some match it with South America, which, geographical outlines defies that for me, but, I really don't care. It's "south-of-THE-border" and that's all I care. Oh my, I think it is due to ignorance. Mexico is in the North American Continent, the same as the USA and Canada. Take it easy. Its not the end of the world. Now if you really want to get peeve, ask this question, 'Is there or isn't there Global Warming'. |
