Getting Married in Mexico?? See Details? |
Travel Info Hello, I'm wondering a few things, I'm from Canada, and i'm looking into getting married in mexico, and from the research I have found I notice it mentions having to get a blood test done in Mexico. Why does that need to be done? Travel Tips I was married down here 20 years ago, (also Canadian) and it was a nightmare to get a license. Not only a blood test, I needed a full medical "passport" which included a doctor's report and chest x-rays! The reason for this is quite simple, if you have any fatal or serious condition or diseases, i.e. AIDS, TB, cancer etc, you will NOT be permitted to get married without a special permission! (Also as a foreigner, I needed permission from the Government Secretariat!) If you are getting married here because your fianc茅 is Mexican, well fine then, suffer on..... (Mexican weddings are one Hell of a great experience!) But if you are just getting married here as a tourist "for a lark," you might want to reconsider....... the bureaucracy is no picnic.... Others My dad once mentioned that this was done to make sure you weren't marrying somebody you're related to, not sure how true that is though... They do a medical health check before you get married. Make sure your information & health are known to your partner. Believe it not, most countries have that, I think people's health is personnal but I did myself. Made sure I have a clean bill of health before marriage, its no big deal but it depends on the individual. Beats me. It was too hard for me to get married in Mexico because I didn't have my Mexican Citizenship, so I got married in the States... but I was told the blood has to do with if two people's blood are not compatible something about the blood if you have a baby and you can be at risk of loosing the baby or your life... I can't remember what that is called. But they want you to be aware of this. a lot of places in the US require this as well. it's to make sure both people are healthy, not carriers of HIV, and of course...are not related. but that last one is a little old fashioned. many states in mexico also require a torso xray! for real! but most vacation spots such as cancun, mazatlan, and puerto vallarta have more relaxed rules. and your hotel can help you out with this. i would suggest booking a hotel, and then calling them to help you with the specifics. they will explain it to you and make sure you bring everything you may need. Hi!!, I麓m live in mexico, and I麓m get married 2 years, but I don麓t having to get a blood test, this test no longer is asked, it was asked for before, but no longer it is made but, you can be col abaut that. "Bridge" is correct with her answer, it also checks for H.I.V as in most countries now there is still a growing risk. I can assure you they still do it as I got married in Veracruz last month and we had to supply our before we got our licence |
