Personally, I like the east / Yucatan region, but I like archaelogical sites.

I travelled from Cancun to Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Merida, Palenque, San Cristobal (in to Guatemala & Belize) then up the coast, via Tuluum, back to Cancun.
