Why do you have to be healthy to get married?? |
Travel Info OK well if you look at my other post about getting married in mexico I asked for information on why we need to get blood tests done. I was told from alot of people that it was to test for H.I.V. and to see if you were related to each other. So my question now is why does it matter if you had some kind of disease? Would they not marry you if that was the case? We are from Alberta, Canada and we plan on getting married in Mexico Next year. But we wanted to know why they put you though all the tests. Well why don't you get the civil registration done in Canada and have the wedding party in Mexico. In Mexico and most countries you have to do a health check so both parties are going into the wedding with eyes wide open. No BS excuses and quick divorces because one party has HIV and has been screwing around the other party. Its the law, you want to get married in Mexico, well that's the law. You can give you freedom speech and how your rights are being exploited but you are nor American. Only Americans use this line. Sorry Senorita, its the law. Others you have to be mentally healthy.. The requirements for a civil marriage in Mexico are as follows: A civil marriage or 鈥淢atrimonio Civil鈥?is the ONLY Mexican marriage that legally changes your civil status from 鈥渟ingle鈥?to 鈥渕arried鈥?br /> Requirements for both bride and groom: Original birth certificate (accompanied by one copy, which has been legally notarized and sealed by the issuing county.) The birth certificates must be translated into Spanish in Mexico by a certified translator. Valid passport. Tourist card (issued upon entering the country) Pre-nuptial blood tests must be done in Mexico and include the following: RH (blood type), VDRL (venereal disease test) and HIV (AIDS) These tests must be preformed no more than 15 days prior to the wedding. Certified statement of health from a licensed Mexican Doctor. Official photo ID. Official divorce papers or death certificate (if applicable). You must provide the name, address, age, nationality, occupation, relationship, tourist card and a valid photo ID for each of your four witnesses (two for each party). Two copies of each document are required. Note: American and Canadian citizens are allowed to enter Mexico with only a birth certificate and original photo I.D. However, it is necessary to have a valid passport to get married in Mexico. Your Mexican marriage certificate document must be apostilled in order to make it valid in your country. Otherwise, it will not be accepted as 鈥楲egal Marriage Certificate鈥? This paperwork must be done in Mexico. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~... Why is this done? In my country, blood tests were mandatory up until a few years ago. I don't know of any couple who were denied marriage because of "failure". Besides, wouldn't you want to know if your fiance has HIV or VD? I know I would! no, it doesn't mean they will not marry you. of course they will. it's just the states way of protecting both parties. if you were to find out your fiance has HIV or something...at least you would INFORMED. and then you could make a decision based off that. now, i do know that in the US they will NOT marry you to a relative which is your sibling or 1st cousin. i don't know what the law is in mexico, i'm sure it's very similar. my point being, the tests don't exist to keep you from getting married, they are simply there to inform you, so you know what you are getting in to. When you get married you are to be with your partner untill death do you apart so if in any case for any reason you want to divorce this person, you will be asked the reason for why do you want to divorce this person. If the reason is because this person is ill and you did not know this before you married the person, the marriage is consider as cancelled. Because you married the person not knowing this matter that may affect you in any way. now if this person got sick after the mariage you must stay with them untill death. It has to do with poilitical and social control really. |
