What items can be taken to Mexico? |
Travel Info I am going to drive to Mexico & will be staying several months. I'm wondering if I'm allowed to take a portable air conditioner into Mexico. If it matters, I'm a U.S. citizen, going as a "tourist." Thanks in advance for your replies! Travel Tips Yes you can, just make sure you don't take it brand new in the box (take it out) and claim it as used and for personal use... when you start saying that it's new and as a gift, they will rip you in fees (coffee money as they call it). Others yes, you can take that. no problem. I know these items are allowed New and used goods for personal use, e.g. clothes, personal hygiene products, footwear 20 Packs of Cigarettes 50 Cigars or 200 grams of tobacco 3 Liters of alcoholic beverages (wine, spirits, etc) Up to 12 rolls of film Up to 20 music CDs A Laptop computer Any sporting equipment (e.g. golf clubs, scuba gear, bike) for personal use Tips about entry / customs allowances: Don't bring anything that obviously looks like you're planning to resell. For example, 5 laptop computers. These items will get heavily taxed or confiscated Items for personal use will be allowed, new or used, but only in quantities that are commensurate with the definition of 'personal use.' If you are carrying large quantities of anything, or if the Customs Inspector believes you are trying to commercialize your goods, then you may be interviewed further. You can also use this link to find more items: http://www.mexconnect.com/mex_/whatstuff... Hope this helps. In laws live in Mexico. You can definetly take it |
