What kind of food do people eat in mexico?? |
Travel Info can you explaine what kind of food they eat plz?? ive been sitting here for like 4 hours trying to find out.. Travel Tips I lived with two different Mexican families over the course of 10 weeks and 2 summers. Breakfast with one family was corn flakes (yes, Kellogg's!) and a fruit plate with mango, pineapple, bananas, watermelon, oranges, and guayaba. Another family gave us the choice of French toast, eggs, and pancakes. We drank fruit juice. In the restaurants, there would be eggs with refried beans and shredded cheese on top of the eggs with fresh fruit. There would be red sauce on the eggs. Around 2:00 everyone goes home for comida, which is the big meal of the day. Warm tortillas, which are bought at the local tortilleria fresh, are always served. They don't taste like the slabs like are sold in the refrigerator section in the USA. They are soft and have a much more flavorful corn taste. Usually there is a soup course and a main dish served with rice and cooked vegetables. Rice and salsa picante are served on the side. The main dish might be enchiladas, picadillo (a stew with beef or ground beef), chicken, chiles poblanos (dark hot peppers stuffed with cheese, fried in whipped egg), tamales, flautas (deep fried tightly rolled tortillas with a meat filling) or pork with a sauce. There is usually a small dessert. One of my host families owned a restaurant, and we usually had cake, ice cream, or pie for dessert. The beverage was normally fruit water (juiced fruit with sugar and water). One local restaurant had tacos with a soft flour shell, and we'd pick the fillings (mole, green mole, chicken, refried beans, egg, etc.) For the evening supper, we would usually have something light, like a torta (a sandwich in Mexico), ham and cheese sandwich, or a quesadilla. One family had chamomille tea with supper (t茅 de manzanilla), or fruit water. At restaurants, you can get a lot of the same food in the USA. They tend to be heavier with the spices. At Burger King and KFC, they have packets of jalepe帽o sauce to add as you wish. One food that is served for breakfast, snack or dessert is churros. They are strips of dough deep-fried and rolled in cinnamon sugar. They are dunked in hot chocolate, but many people just buy them and eat them out of the bag. Source(s): Been there 3 summers, lived with Mexican families twice. Miss the food! Other Travel Tips most people tend to eat whats in their own country. even though they don't have to. so they eat mexican food. Um, mexican food.......the same kind of mexican food you can get here. beans, and corn, and flautas and tacos and tamales etc....... Usually locally grown fruits and vegetables and not as much meat as the USA. Frequent visitor to Mexico m-e-x-i-c-a-n. there are different types in different regions. sonoran style, etc. beans, rice, enchiladas, tacos, tamales, chile rellenos, huevos, mariscos, tostadas, tortillas, burritos, empanadas, menudo, pasole, etc, etc, etc. GAWD, now i'm starving. wahhhh. |
