Do you have to have a passport to shop on the U.S. / Mexico border (Juarez) if you walk across the bridge?

Travel Tips
Right now, there are differences between whether you fly or walk/drive across the border... at the moment you can cross the border by walking or driving without needing a passport. However, in the future, everyone will need a passport (or another special document) to travel across the border.

The best resource for any questions, is the US State Department. Check the link below for more information than you will ever need! Source(s): http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbp...
Other Travel Tips
No. You can use dollars and pesos over there. U.S currency is highly versatile. If you are asking to go back across the border into the States, then you probably do. I haven't been to Mexico since 1999 and all I needed was my U.S. driver's license. After 9/11 and with Homeland Security, things might have changed. Hope this helps.
My own experience.
