I want to bring my grand parents to visit us in TX from Mexico for about 6months? Where should I start? |
Travel Info I just purchased a new home and promised my mom and grandparents I was going to try and bring them to TX to visit. Travel Tips Hi, I am an American living in Mexico and am in the process of helping a friend get prepared to visit the United States with me. You need to allow up to a year to get everything done. First, they need to locate the nearest INM office to apply for a passport. They can pick up a flyer first that tells what papers to have ready when you go in to apply. A one year passpoert costs about $35.00 U.S. and a five year passport costs about $100.00 U.S. It is not difficult to get. Then you need to help them apply for a U.S. visa thru the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City. You can go to their website for instructions. First you fill out the forms ansd submit them on-line. You request an interview. They will notify you when the interview will be. Your grandparents will have to go to the Embassy in Mexico City for that inteview. Then in 2 to 3 months they will be notified if the visas have been granted. It takes 2 to 3 months waiting time to get the appt. for an interview. So altogether can take close to a year for the whole process. The first website listed below is info for them to get Mexican passports and the second website is info on getting a U. S. Visa.
