Rent in Mexico?

I've already come to the conclusion that I'll be unable to find a job, initially, in Mexico. So, I want to move to a coastal town in hopes that I land a job in the tourist industry. Any locale suggestions? I'd love big like Cancun or small too. How much does rent run in Cancun versus smaller destinations?
