Travel Info Do you need your passport for a 4 night baja/mexico cruise (leaving the port of L.A.)? Travel Tips You got 2 different answers...and they are both right! Technically you do not need a passport for sea travel, but some cruise lines are requiring it. So...the best thing to do is call your travel agent or cruise line and ask if they are requiring a passport.Right now, a passport is only required if you are flying to a destination outside of the U.S. After January 1, 2008 you will need a passport for land and sea travel ouside of the U.S. also. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbp... yes you do... you need it for cruises or flights =) It's not mandatory for a Cruise ship, but now-a-days recommended for everything. I just got back from a cruise that went to Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel (left from TX) and it wasn't required. The agents suggest that you get one because if something was to happen (God forbid) that way they can fly you back to the states immediately, otherwise without a passport you have to stay and come back via the ship... Come 2008 you will need a passport for everything international.... good luck... |
