Do you need a passport to cross into mexico? |
Travel Info My friends and I are planning to take a trip to Rosarito next month. Will we need a passport to get back? Travel Tips As of January of this year you definately need a passport to go to Canada and Mexico or anywhere outside of the united states by air You can no longer get by with just a photoid, or a birth certificate. By car you have until 2008. Also because of this you're going to have a hard time getting a passport within a month. The passport offices are very backed up. You'll need to pay for the priority processing which is like an extra $75 and hope and pray they can process it quickly.# Beginning January 23, 2007, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will be required to present a valid passport, Air NEXUS card, or U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document, or an Alien Registration Card, Form I-551, if applicable. # As early as January 1, 2008, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security.
