No way you can get from Laredo to Monterrey in two and a half hours no matter what the Monterrey speedsters may brahg about - there is a lot of traffic in Nuevo Laredo and also sometimes in Monterrey. Using the toll highway it is about 3 hours 15 minutes to three and a half hours driving fairly fast (65 - 75 mph). Avoid rush hours when it adds a little more trafficand time. Crossing the bridge to get into Mexico is a breeze and I rarely see long, if any lines to go INTO Mexico. The long lines develop going into the USA. You'll probably wait for two cars to get the green customs light as you slow up after crossing the bridge. There is a second customs revistion point about 15 miles (25 km) after the crossing where they are a little stricter but usually you just go right through, though if they search you it can take 5 or 10 minutes and you ought to smile and be friendly and it ought to go well. The distance is slightly under 150 miles or about 250 kilometers. Kilometermarkers on both highways (toll (cuota) and free (libre)) will give you the exact distance left as you tool along. The toll highway saves about 20-30 minutes on normal days.
