Is it safe to live between progreso, the main port of the peninsula and Telchac in Mexico? |
Travel Info I am looking at a vacation home near the beach in this area. thoughts? Travel Tips Hurricanes can be a problem in that area, but I still think it's a nice area and my wife and I will be spending most of the winter there this year. We are considering buying too but so far renting has really worked out well for us. The Yucatan does have a low crime rate, in fact the capital of Merida boasts the lowest per capita crime rate in Mexico. Though most crimes when they do happen tend to be of the petty theft variety there are lots of poor people in the area. Good luck whatever you decide.
