Mexico Buses?

me and my friends are planning to go to Mexico city for this summer and then go to guadalajara I already check mexico domestic flights and they are really expensive so i think the only option we have is to choose buses:( are they expensive? and how long you think it will take us to get to Guadalajara from Mexico city by bus?
I also want to know about the journey time by bus from Mexico City to Mazatlan as we are not yet sure to go to guadalajara or Mazatlan!

I have traveled this route many times. The bus from Mexico City's north terminal to Guadalajara takes seven hours. Take ETN if you decide to travel at night, it is by far the most comfortable on this route. I suggest traveling at night to save on hotel costs, also you will find many more buses leaving at night, usually between 11 pm and 1 am. The cost is more than $20 on a first class bus. It will cost between $40 and $60 depending on the bus line.
There are no buses from the Mexico City airport directly to GDL.
The travel to Mazatlan is much longer than to GDL. Mazatlan is seven or eight hours by bus from Guadalajara.

Guadalajara to Mexico City is about 10-12 hours and it isn't that expensive about 20 dollars one way. And the buses are waaay nicer than US buses so have fun.
Take ADO from Mexico City Airport. ADO is first class bus, with air conditioning, free coffee and movies. They don't stop at every little pueblo, so it should take only 21/2 hours to get there. Go from there to Taxco, a beautiful City about 2 hours away, with beautiful sightseeing, fantastic architecture, and fabulous silver work. Mazatlan from Mexico city is 6-8 hours, as it is way away on the coast.
The price to Guadalajara is about $40., $25 from Guad. to Taxco, but call Mexican consulate to get recent prices, since the rate of exchange keeps changing rapidly. They can also let you know the price to Mazatlan. I love Mexico, but remember not to hitch a ride in Mexico, a very dangerous thing to do in Mexico.

Bus fare is not too bad. Mex City to Guadalajara is probably about a 4 hour bus ride. It is fun doing this, you learn so much and experience so much. Only recommendation is keep your eyes open in Mexico City as everyone is always warning people about safety (if you are to get a taxi to get to the bus station make sure you buy the taxi ticket at the airport). I don't mean to scare you, I've done these trips and it is a quite an adventure and very exciting. The rest of the Country is much safer. Have fun and enjoy yourselves.
