Where does my last name MONTIEL come from? (again)? |
Travel Info (I asked again because I asked this before at 3AM and no one was even up to see it). I was born in Chicago, IL and my family is from Mexico. My parents were born in Mexico, my dad's parents were born in Mexico (I got my last name from my dad), and I don't know the rest. But I was not sure if the name MONTIEL came from Spain. If so, am I Spanish as well since I was related to someone who came form Spain to Mexico. I am confused. . . (And I have also asked this question in 3 other categories). I did ask my parent but they don't know any family beyond their own grandparents. I want to know what people know of this name. Are there people in Spain with this last name. I guess I need to ask my grandfather, my dad's dad, and he lives in Mexico. Travel Tips I'm from Chicago too. Both of my parents are from Mexico. You could have Spanish ancestors especially if you have light skin and light eyes. I have light skin and some of my relatives have blue and green and hazel eyes and my dad says its because there was probably a lot of Spanish ancestry in our family. Or the Spaniards came over to Mexico and married people who were Mexican. Okay I just went to house of names and found info for your name. I can't copy and paste so just go there and type in your name in the search engine. Your right, it is a Spanish name. Source(s): Here's a good site to find out: www.houseofnames.com and Other Travel Tips Just because your last name is Spanish, it doesn't mean that you have Spanish blood. Think about this, the black people in the US have European names(mostly English), and they're all black as coal, so you see, they just adopted the last name. |
