Is anyone here from or has ever been to GUERRERO, in Mexico? |
Travel Info My family is from there and I was wondering if there are people who know of that place or has family there or has ever been there. Thanks. Travel Tips If you are referring to the STATE of Guerrero, I have been there. It is beautiful and mountainous with a lovely coastline. In recent years there has been some unrest and driving through it is always a challenge. One time we were on our way to Acapulco (in Guerrero) in a bus. We stopped for hours. I walked to the front of the line of cars (almost a half-mile). I saw a car and trailer that had been knocked over on the shoulder of the road. The ensemble was just hanging there by the trailer hitch that had gotten caught on a large rock outcropping. Below the car and trailer was a 1500 foot sheer cliff. Later as we drove past the wreck, I spotted a Texas license plate and saw two women's legs hanging out the back window of the car. Emergency service in Mexico is not what you find in the USA. Although we had seen two ambulances visit the scene of the accident, there was still this one poor soul who was either not injured as badly as the first two taken, or was dead. I got queasy looking at the drop-off. On another occasion, We were totally rerouted, on our way due to half of the road caving off in a small quake. Rugged, dangerous country, but wonderful to visit.
