Do I need a Passport to go to Mexico? |
Travel Info I was wondering if I needed a passport to go to Mexico or to come back? If you know of a site where I can read up on it that would be great also. If not thats ok ur advice will help anyways. Travel Tips Holy cow! You got 6 answers, all wrong! If you are FLYING to Mexico, you must have a passport If you are DRIVING, you do nto need a passport until Jan. 2008. There is a terrible backup on passports right now and it is taking at least 16 weeks to get one. If you pay the extra fee to have it expedited, it is taking more than 4 weeks. however, if you need a passport and need to travel befroe 16 weeks, they are offering a waiver right now. This means that people who have applied fro a passport, have the receipt and follow the instructions on the state dept. website can be excused from the passport requirement. you need to see the website below for instructions on getting a passport and to read about the passport waiver. As to needing a visa for Mexico...all you need is the tourist card. if you fly , you will get it on the plane. If you drive, you can get it at the border. The cost is about $22.00 U.S. The 1st website gives passport and waiver info. The secong website tells you that travellers going to Mexico by AIR now need a passport, but those going by land or sea do not need a passport until Jan. 2008.
