UK Newspapers / Magazines in Mexico?

Have any of you been to Mexico recently?

Just wondered if you are able to get British newspapers and magazines over there like you do in Europe?

If so, how much later are they?

Well.... it depends upon where you are going in Mexico!

Even some of the larger cities (like the one in which I live, Torreon) may NOT have publications that other cities such as Mexico City may have.

For instance, in Torreon, there is NO place where you can purchase ANY English language newspaper -- whether one day or one week or one month late! That includes US newspapers. And because there are so few expats here, there is also no local English language paper.

However, we do have Sanborn's and also a local department store called Cimaco (plus the grocery store HEB) where you can purchase copies of English language magazines, both US and British. It is truly hit or miss though, and you can't always count on finding every issue in a timely manner.

The best bet is to go on line and read articles there. In most larger cities there are a multitude of Internet cafes, so you can log on there if you are not staying at a hotel with an Internet connection.

Personally, I subscribe to the English language magazines I like and have them sent to me through a private courier company. It is NOT cheap, but it is reliable. Obviously, this would not be a solution for someone spending only a short time in Mexico. Source(s): Three years as an expat in Mexico
