What should i do and dont in mexico...help!! can i drink the watter? |
Travel Info im going to mexico next friday and i need to know what i can and cant eat to avoid getting sick...i want to enjoy my vacation with out getting sick:0) ...help please! Travel Tips I am Mexican and husband German, the problem with the water is, that the big cities put a lot of chlorine, and in small cities, one doesn麓t know what they do (In Acapulco, it taste like fish...), for that reason is better, if you are not in a big city and you don麓t have problems with the chlor, it is to buy the water in the super markt. To eat in the big or comercial restaurant is not a problem (there are inspectors), you can have a problem if you buy something to eat on the streets (it is delicious, but my husban had diarrhea 1 day, he has to drink liters of coke to get better). There are very sensitive people, who have problems with the meal change, so try don麓t to eat very spicy meals: fish, salads, etc. there are a dish which is not very spicy and delicious for foreigners : enchiladas suizas (it ist a tortilla wet in a delicious sauce and full with chicken, cream and cheese...mmmmm!). Have a nice vacations! Others i went to mexico a few years ago!! MUCHO FUN!!!!!!! i would just try not to drink mexican water...but while i was there i did on axident and it was no big deal..i didnt get sick i dont think u have to b too worried bout it The first thing to stay away from is the water. That includes these little bars that serve ice too. If you look around and see that they have bottled water you will be okay, but I would ask. If you are staying in a reputable hotel request bottled water. Most of them have it now anyway. As for the food, this night sound gross but look for flies and other insects. They usually give the bad food away fright off the bat. Have fun and don't be afraid to ask questions. I don't think you'll have a problem with the food. And with the water, you should just try to buy water in respectable places from the area, otherwise you might be drinking water that has been bottled in dirty places. People do that just because they want money so they start bottleling water to sell it Well, I mean you obviously shouldnt drink the tap water in any place, especially Mexico City. I would think you would be safe with whatever you order and ordering water to drink in some of the nicer chain hotels (bottled water is best if you can get it). Obviously, be careful and I would probably avoid eating at roadside carts or stands. It depends on what part of Mexico and the area of town, but that will be a factor. You just have to sort of judge for yourself how clean a place appears. OK OK OK CALM DOWN! first u should always buy mineral water when u land in mexico. buy whole gallons and gallons when u get a home or whatever you r staying in. don't ever drink the normal water mexicans drink bc it might not suit ur stomach and u will get diarya for days! trust me on this one!! try not to eat too much spicy food and don't go out and eat in restraunts that u no r pue mexican style. have fun Don't drink any water but bottled water. (Hotels will tell you that their water is safe, but you'll also be told the opposite by different staff.) Don't get drinks with ice; this is people's frequent downfall. They remember about the water but forget about the ice. Don't eat fruits/vegetables with skin/covering (only if outside has been removed.) Otherwise food is ok down there in general; have eaten there many times. Don't forget: don't brush teeth with anything with bottled water. If you have a friend who is a doctor, you can ask to get a prescription for a broad spectrum antibiotic to take with you for "insurance" in case you get sick. |
