Tenochtitlan, no longer exists, since the capital of the Aztec empire was destroyed by the Spanish in 1521, the ruins of that city are know as "Ruins of the Major Temple", and are located in downtown Mexico City. Perhaps you are referring to the city of TEOTIHUACAN, which is located some 35 miles north of Mexico City. It is really worth it, a visit to Mexico City without going there is like not having been there. It is a UNESCO world heritage site. The pyramids are rich in history and very exciting to see. You will do alot of walking in the hot sun. Please make sure to use sunscreen, light clothes, walking shoes, sun glasses, and enjoy. The pyramids have people who sell drinks when you climb to the top of the pyramids. There is also food at Tenochitlan. Hope this helps! You're talking about Teotihuac谩n, not Tenochtitl谩n, about an hour ride from DF. The pyramids and archeological ruins are incredible. If you take a bus from the Estaci贸n de Autobuses Terminal del Norte in Mexico City, leave early in the morning and find out when the last bus comes back to Mexico City. Bring comfortable shoes, water, sunscreen, your camera, and a compact umbrella (it is the rainy season in Mexico now). You may want to pack a lunch as well, as the prices for food there are a bit high. I'd put everything in a backpack. Been there three times, loved it! |
