A cheap way from Mexico City to Puerto Vallarta?

Travel Info
Im trying to get from mexico city to puerto valaarta in November. Airlines seem to have a monopoly tickets are way to expencive. The busses that I could find charged redicould prices aswell. the cheapest i could find was (one way) around $80 US I believe.

Im willing to trade comfort for money :-)

Travel Tips
There are discount airlines in Mexico. You can find more info about them on my website. Link below.

One company, Aviasca, has a special discount if a ticket is purchased on Tuesday. The flight doesn't be on a Tuesday, just purchased on a Tuesday. Source(s): http://www.larpman.com/transportpages/ai...

send yourself there in a big cardboard box!!
leave some air holes tho!!
Well, the thing is the buses were the cheapest way to travel... now, 800 probably is for the first class buses (you know, with tv, the chairs become beds, with restrooms, cafeteria and food included), i guess you can find something for less. The worst bus is better than a greyhound bus, believe me, i麓ve tried them both.
but a new airline that I know travels to Pto Vallarta is just in mexico, it is called VivaAerobus and it flies there (but i think you have to take it from Toluca, check if you can grab the metro from the airport up to Toreo and then get a bus or transportation to the central station) if not it is from quer茅taro, but that is a couple of hours from your destination.

I don麓t think you have any other option, maybe rent a car, but with the gas and the tollbooths i guess you would be paying the same...
Do you have any friends who are traveling with you? if you rent a car and share the expenses is cheaper, the other ways are going to be like what you said, $80

Good luck, hope someone can give you another cheaper answer.
$80, THAT'S "redicould"? What are you Rip van Winkle? Have you been asleep for the past 25 years? That's $80 to travel almost 500 miles on "state of the art" modern freeways, in a late model, air-conditioned Mercedes or Volvo bus at 70 mph, non-stop, with in-seat movies and stewardess service! Mexican first-class bus service is among the very best on this Earth!

You "other" options might include walking, biking or hitch hiking (all VERY uncommon and VERY dangerous in Mexico). You might try looking around among friends, the universities, etc to find someone you can share the expenses with. (With the gas prices and the high freeway tolls, a private car will cost at least $80 probably closer to $120 to drive to PV! College kids are always sharing expenses.)

The other alternative is to use the local bus services and bounce from town to town. The only problem here is that it will take two or three times as long, no air conditioning, no English, lots of chickens and screaming kids, long layovers and waits, unsafe buses, breakdowns, questionable food, and in the end you will probably save $20!

This is modern Mexico you know, not Kazakstan, my advice to you is to do what most Mexicans would do, even the poorer ones, save up the $80 and enjoy the wonderful first-class ride!

- Rip van WINKLE! You're Dutch, "idioot!" you look it up!
- You can fly to Madrid for less than $80! Well then go fly to Madrid and STOP wasting our time over here!
- my advice to you was EXCELLENT, you ungrateful little "snikkel"! Other, cheaper options ARE dangerous, If you want to bounce around on cheap buses and get salmonella, its YOUR BUSINESS, I simply pointed out the risks verses the savings. If you had even bothered to READ what I wrote, then my "reaction" SHOULD have helped you, A LOT!
- lastly I'm not repeating your spelling errors to "be smart" I don't even know for sure just what you mean by words like "redicould" do they not have dictionaries in your country?
- "be well!" Alstublieft!

vaya con Dios, Nederlander....
Listen "Hans Brinker" I know that Mr. Dole can be an opinionated butt-head at times, but actually he DID give you some good advice there.

I live in Mexico and travel a lot! Believe me you don't really want to "sit on a bus with no airco and hop from small town to small town." Maybe after you've been here for awhile, sure, but NOT right away, you have to know something about the culture you are immersed in. (Don't be fooled by the "common" language, Mexico is NOT Spain!)

Mexico is not the US, where there are really cheap flights if you wait in line etc., Its more like Canada with LOTS of government regulations and restriction in the airline industry which keep prices much higher than the US.

Come on, you Euros are rich! We can read the exchange rates! Try the $80 bus to start with, you won't be sorry.......
Try your travel agent they can get consolidator fares.
