Shopping in Mexico City?

Travel Info
How is the shopping in Mexico City? Will I be able to find cheap dresses and jewelery or should I plan on spending a lot of money? Tell me whatever you can, thanks!!

Travel Tips
Hope you like my answer.

Santa Fe: Biggest mall there is. It has 3 department stores, two of them (liverpool and palacio de hierro) are pretty good and you will find mostly european or american brands. Good ones too. It is about 30% more expensive than if you go to your local Macys. Besides the department stores, there are a lot of boutiques from casual to top notch designers, furniture, sports, etc.

Antara Polanco: Newest mall... mostly very very expensive european designer boutiques (armani, cavalli, canali, lv, etc)
www.public.com.mx/Antara.html

Masaryk: It's a street in polanco with top notch designer stores: armani, versace, brioni, escada, dior, ralph lauren, bvulgari, lv, boss, zegna, etc)

Stuff in Antara or Masaryk will cost about 20% more than its cost in europe or 30% more of what it costs in the US

Plaza Satelite and Perisur are mainly as santa fe but smaller and older, so if you are not in the area, dont bother

If you want to buy cheap folkloric necklaces or collars or stuff like that go to coyoacan or San Angel on a Saturday.

If you want to buy very expensive jewlery go to masaryk street (see above)

If you want to buy electronics, dont bother... they are too expensive compared to the us or europe

if you want to buy sporty stuff, there are adidas, nike or some big sports stores in Santa Fe, Antara or the other malls I mentioned.

Most brands they sell in Mexico City are american or european anyway so dont think you will find exotic stuff.

good luck

depends the place that you shop, in perisur or plaza satellite is the regular price, but its certificated
Same as any other big city. Look for bargains. There big time designer clothes there too.
go to the fayuca and buy black market stuff
You can find clothing in all ranges of price.

You might try the Mercado de Artensanias near La Ciudadela, a craft market that has a nice selection of items and pretty good prices. It is just a few blocks from the Alameda and Paseo de la Reforma.

There is also the Zona Rosa. There is a mercado in the Zona Rosa that has many items, including jewelry. It is between two streets. Londres and Liverpool I believe. There is lots of conventional shopping in the Zona Rosa.

If you go to the Zocalo area, there are dozens of jewelry shops lining Madeo and 5 de Mayo.

It is easy to spend a lot of money if you are a diehard shopper.
