I am going to Playa. I am staying at the Mayan Riviera, also need to know the best cenotes? |
Travel Info To snorkel in. Maybe some that you do not have to go with a tour. Also how I do I find a map of these cenotes. i am renting a car. Oh, does anyone have any pros or cons of the Mayan Riviera? Appreciate any input!! Travel Tips If you are going by your own, on car, just take the trip, all the way to tulum and a little further on there are a bunch of cenotes. Most belong to families who open the doors to tourist if they pay an entry fee (not too much, less than 10 bucks each). Please, be sure to not wear suncreen or at least wear biodegradable sunscreen, the water is very delicate and you can kill the wildlife there. Also, do not take any stalgmites or stalagtites from the cenotes, many people do not know it is a federal offense and you could go to jail if caught. Ok, i think each cenote has a spirit, i have visited many many and find them all delightful. On the way you will see signs, near puerto aventuras (a town) there are a bunch of cenotes on the right side of the road, very nice. not many geological formations, but incredible, great place to start. after tulum there are cenote escondido and cenote critalino. if you turn left in tul煤m and go to coba, on the first couple of kilometers are cenote car-wash and another one, also very nice. But before tulum you have cenotes dos palmas in the ejido jacinto pech (i am not sure about this last name), very very very nice, lots of stalagtites. hope this helps.
