I live in McAllen, TX and go to Reynosa, Nuevo Progresso and Matamoros quite often and never have any problems. Just take the usual precautions and you will be safe. I don't suggest going to Nuevo Laredo because of the drug related problems.

um..... how do you get AROUND the border.. even if you go by ship you still have to deal w/ customs on the shore.

Walking and shopping is encouraged...getting drunk and stupid isn't. Behave yourself and you'll have no trouble at all.
