Do you NEED a passport when coming back into the USA from mexico when driving in a car? |
Travel Info well, before there was no law that people under the age of 18 needed a passport (or somethign like that) i want to go to mexico but when coming back in a car do u need a passport. my parents r leaving on august and i have no time to go and get one sooooooo help! Travel Tips They are not asking for passports (if you are crossing by CAR like you said) if you are American yet...you will need your state ID or some other type of certified identification though. They will ask you what nationality you are, regardless of what you are wearing and things like that. Just tell them that you are an American citizen, sometimes they ask you for your ID..sometimes they don't. They will also ask you where you are coming from and what kind of things your family has in the car (you cant cross some types of food.....). Source(s): Currently live in El Paso, Texas...border with Mexico. Other Travel Tips If you have an american accent and are white, then you don't or atleast thats how it worked for us. Since you are driving then no you do not need a passport. Just take a state id, social security card and you birth certificate. Are your parents that are going with you, your blood parents? If they are not on your birth certificate (step father or mother) then you need a notorized letter from the parent not with you giving the other permission to take you out of the country. only when flying do you need a passport You do |
