Travel Info don't want the white-washed effect; ie Marriot Veracruz, more of a rustic, rural, cottage, village experience...to see the real Veracruz. Kind of like a bed an breakfast experience want to spend 2-4 weeks in Veracruz and go up and down the gulf coast area. Thank you very much Travel Tips It sounds like you want to visit in Veracruz city and in the rest of the state. Please come to the Xalapa area too...it is vey different (and COOLER) than Veracruz city. You would LOVE visiting Xico and Coatepec...both just a short distance from Xalapa...the capitol of Veracruz. Xalapa has many quaint areas, but is also a modern city with many things to do and see If you want to spend some time on th "Emerald Coast" there are any modest, but cute motels right on the wild beaches about an hour and a half north of Veracru. Are you going to rent a car? Jacomulco is a little town just 20 min away from my house here just outside of Coatepec...famous for riverrafting...with quaint, but excellent ( and cheap) restaurants hanging over the river. You just Gotta come inland to the "real" Veracruz! I have put some links below. Hope you decide to come see Xico...you remember that movie with Michael Douglas, "Romancing the Stone?" Remember the waterfall? It is in Xico. Can't find any websites for hotels along the coast, but you can just go and drive along til you see one you like...no problem...it is not like the big touristy areas in Cancun, Etc...is gorgeous, but almost totally unknown to the outside world. i live about 1 and 1/2 hr from Veracruz city. hotter than Hades down there this time of year...but just perfect up here at 4,000 ft. of elevation!
