Is Mexico the gulf of mexico region really beautiful, or are there just a few pretty pictures? |
Travel Info Saw photos of Monterey, Salteo (probably mis-spelled) traveled to Mexico from Loredo to San Maguel de Auente, and all we found was a couple of pretty places, but mostly poverty, unemployment, and dry flat land, or big commercialized towns. Want to travel to the Gulf Coast of Mexico (Veracruz, Coatepek, Taxco etc) but dont want to go see a couple of pretty sites, with the rest of the are being environmentally ugly and just a couple of pretty sites. In general is the gulf of Mexico area of mexico, lush, interesting and a great place to visit. Just don't know what to expect. Travel Tips i happend to be from that area. I think the gulf is very beatiful. Coatepec is very small in one day you visit everything, but u can go to Xico to eat traditional food (not burritos) or Xalapa the main city of the State of Veracruz. Then veracruz is famous for having not so beatiful beaches such as cancun but for party places, there are lots of rest., bars and cool places to chill, in the mornings the malecon and b the oulevardare nice places to walk and see the locals... Then taxco is not the Gulf, i am visiting taxco in two weeks, maybe I can show some pictures after my trip!. The Gulf has a lot of "Virgin" Beaches, just you the sun and the ocean, but you really need to look for them (hint: ask the locals) Hope I helped, bye Others It is very pretty because I've been there and I know. There are some pictures that exaggerate their high points but overall it's a beautiful place to go. It depends on where you go....I've been to Veracruz and it was nice except I was disappointed with the sand being too dark...looked like mud. And the city of Campeche is a historical city (nice one) too but it doesn't have many nice beaches and the water is too dark, perhaps because they extract petroleum out of it. Don't take me wrong, I really really like Mexico and I have seen so many beautiful places, as a matter of fact here is a link to some of the pictures I've taken. http://youtube.com/watch?v=boeusx3fafc... I've traveled South of Mexico and have learned there are many beautiful places there. Chiapas is beautiful, full of huge mountains and jungle all over (Palenque, San Cristobal de las Casas, among others). The Quintana Roo coast is beautiful.... the Mexican Caribbean is gorgeous, allowing you to snorkel, feels like you are inside a huge aquarium and you can see colorful fish big and small. Yucatan is very pretty... the Golf of Mexico is there, it has beige color sand for beaches. Yucatan has a lot of jungle too. About poor people you will find them everywhere, but Mexico is very diverse. You will find colonial towns and modern towns and all kinds of towns. Places like Guanajuato (the main city - that is the capital) is very nice...you can visit historical buildings... San Miguel de Allende in Guanajuato is also very pretty. So it all depends on where you go and perhaps you want to do some research on the place you will visit before you go there just to make sure that is what you are looking for. Now if you want to visit a place in Mexico where all you see are luxurious hotels and night clubs and beautiful white beaches, Cancun is your place. and this link is of Xel-Ha, not too far from Cancun http://youtube.com/watch?v=kqkhbmgimq4&m... I am an American living just outside of Coatepec, in the state of Veracruz. Veracruz is very different than most of the rest of Mexico. It is GREEN There are hundreds of miles of wild beach on the coast. The coastal regions arehot and humid. Veracruz city has beautiful areas...Centro , Historico, the malecon, docks,Aquario. An hour and a half north and west of Veracruz city you will be in the much cooler mountain region. where Coatepec is located. 20 min. from Coatepec is Xalapa, the state capitol...and a great educational, cultural, thriving city of a million. There are many unique small townns in the region. It is not DisneyWorld...everything is not clean and perfect, you will see some poverty. But it is a beautiful region. See the websites below for some more info. Xico, naolinco, Jacomoulco are small towns in the region well worth seeing. htthttp://www.mexconnect.com/mex_/veracruz/... http://www.coatepecviolins.com/coatepec1... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/coatepec... http://www.tourbymexico.com/veracruz/ver... Well I am a big fan of Veracruz, cos it has a very special feeling, not only the capital, but as well Jalapa and in El Taj铆n you can see one of the most beautiful places built in the prehispanic era. The beach is not so special, but the food in Veracruz is delicious and you can see the most spectacular sunrises there. Veracruz also has beautiful folklore music with really great typical dances. People in Veracruz is really nice and very warm. And it's very obvious the influence of African culture and Cuba. I have been there |
