Am going to barcelona with my parents. However my dad is getting over a broken foot and walking is restricted |
Travel Info could anyone please advise how I can assist him getting around He is 68 and fit but because of this walking restricted. We are staying in gothic quarter and both my mum and dad really want to see the sights but with his walking now restricted any ideas?/ Travel Tips Sorry to hear that, hope he mends soon. I was in Barcelona last year and took a coach trip to see the sights. The coach would take you right to the heart of the different sights and the waterfall display is breath taking and if i remember correctly there was seating there. Hope this is of some help. Others Answer is a little dependent how restricted. Barcelona is modern city with multiple nice mass transit options that will get you to most of major sites;however, this might involve more walking than he is comfortable with. For sites out a ways, you can always take mass transit to the area and short cab ride once you get in that area. Driving is really no different from in the US; although; parking can be an issue at some locations. Renting a car is easily done over the Internet, but you might be better off just staying centrally and taking cabs. Some of the nice sites require some walking just to see them. Be sure to surf the Internet for your hotel. Unlike the US, the same hotel can be available at vastly different rates on different sites. Also, if you have not been to Spain, either eat a late lunch by 4 or plan on dinner at 9. They just do not open until then. Multiple recent visits I was there a fortnight ago, fabulous place. There's a Bus Touristic - you can buy a pass at any of the information booths (there's one at the airport) - which goes around and you can hop on, hop off as you please. Or you can stay on, there's several routes which overlap. You can see a lot from there. Disabled access is really good on all sights. Use the open top tourist bus you can get on and off as you please there are a lot of them - you buy a day pass - for information on what to see http://www.spain4uk.co.uk/places/barcelo... You can take the "Bus touristic" is a bus that has two routes (North and South) to all the most important sightseeing places. You can take it from Pla莽a Catalunya. Enjoy your stay in Barcelona!! I'm from Barcelona |
