Going to Tossa de Mar in May-suggestions?

Travel Info
I'll be visiting Tossa de Mar in May, any suggestions on must-sees or must-dos? I'm assuming we will have warm weather. What nearby towns are worth visiting?

Travel Tips
Hello there and well done you for chosing Tossa De Mar for your holiday. Compared to Lloret De Mar, Tossa is a much nicer holday resort with so much to see and do.

If you want to do something other than spend your time lazing on one of the gorgeous beaches, people-watching over a glass of wine in one of the street-side bars, or enjoying a refreshing swim in your hotel swimming pool, there is a whole host of things to get stuck into!

The Tourist Office of Tossa de Mar (www.infotossa.com) is a haven for information on all the things you can do to pass your time. The office also organises a Cultural and Entertainment programme every month. Contact them for further details

Or visit them while you鈥檙e in Tossa at Av. del Pelegr铆, 25, just round the corner from the bus station.

The Vila Nova (new town) blends harmoniously with the Vila Vella (old town) and offers a multitude of shops, bars and restaurants. Nestled within the narrow streets are tempting boutique style shops offering a variety of different styles of clothing: designer label junkies can indulge in Lacoste, Dolce & Gabanna and Armani at a fraction of UK prices.

The clothes shop, Pandora, was once a bar and was the very bar featured in the well known 1951 film, Pandora and the Flying Dutchman, starring Ava Gardner and James Mason. In the film it was known as Las Dos Tortugas 鈥?the Two Turtles 鈥?and was frequented by gypsy flamenco artists.

Browsing the shops, you will also come across an abundance of classy shoes, bags, jewellery, perfumes, exquisite gifts and much more. Of course, Tossa, as any Spanish town, has it鈥檚 share of ceramics sellers. One of the largest outlets can be found on the Avenida Ferran Agullo. This open fronted shop offers a huge range of ceramics in an array of different designs, shapes and sizes, and has a separate section dedicated to garden ornaments.

One of the most notable things about shopping in Tossa is the friendly, helpful attitude of the shopkeepers. And the more you go back, the more friendly they become, and if you go that step further and speak a little Spanish or Catalan, they鈥檒l be your friend for life!

If you are looking for a more bustling retail atmosphere, then head for neighbouring resort Lloret de Mar where you鈥檒l find streets and streets full of shops of all kinds.

Or of course, if you want the ultimate shopping experience, then take yourself off to Barcelona which is 95km away, around two hours on the bus. There you鈥檒l find a whole host of designer clothes shops and of course, the well known El Corte Ingles. And then theres always the football stadium which is popular with many.

The weather in May might be a bit mixed.. it's not going to be cold, but it will not be as hot in May as it is in July- still very pleasant but expect a little rain and cooler evenings.

If you want to explore even furhter afield- then consider hiring a car and drive around the area. For example, The Costa Maresme follows on from the Costa Brava, starting at Malgrat de Mar and stretching down to Montgat. Here you鈥檒l find the popular resorts of Santa Susanna, Calella and Pineda de Mar.

You'd be amazed at just how many people travel abroad on holiday and never see past the nearest bar or their hotel swimming pool!

I hope you have a lovely holiday- All the very best! Source(s): http://www.tossacostabrava.com/index.htm...
