Travel Info Any one ever been to benidorm any feedback welcome? Travel Tips okay okay... this lady has asked for info but some of the comments here I think are a little unhelpful so lets see what we can do to help her here... Benidorm was until 50 years ago just a small fishing village, now it's a huge sprawling resort full of high rise hotels & apts. The resort has two beaches: Levante in the new town and Poniente in the old town. Benidorm is known for its never ending nightlife and during the summer months is favoured by young singles and couples and families. In the winter from October - April the resort is preferred by retired couples. The high rise hotels specialise in bulk bookings, and most are around the 2/3* level. There are also a number of hostels and apartment buildings. A short distance from Benidorm is Terramitica, a huge theme park with attractions and rides. Its quite a gruelling day out in the heat as there is little shade and no transport to get around the park- it's all on foot I'm afraid. But if you like this kind of thing it's worth a go. Holidaymakers will never be short of things to do in Benidorm - there's an open air market every wednesday, an entertainment centre with live shows, Aitana Safari park and all the usual watersports, bars, clubs and shops. For more details on attractions.. check out this link... http://www.benidorm-spotlight.com/guide.... Heres a useful link to see what others say... http://www.tripadvisor.com/golistdetail-... http://www.myholidayreport.com/resort/sp... Benidorm is loved by many many people. Yes, it's a bit like Blackpool with sun, but lots of people like that sort of thing. I'd say that the flat area of the new town is the best place to be, as some of the other, cheaper areas are dark and not safe at night. The seafront buildings are run down with graffitti, in high season it's noisy. Its very "honky tonk" and if you're Scottish you'll know exactly what I mean! LOL Its more Danny La Rue than Naomi Campbell and there are some places that are so closely packed together that you can almost touch the next hotels balcony from yours! Still, it's remained popular- I think it's very overpriced- Benidorm is not a cheap holiday- some of the holidays there are dearer than going to the Carribean, but we shouldn't knock it till we've tried it. Have a great time! Source(s): My head- Only been to Benidrom once and hated it! Not my idea of holiday heaven but everyone is different! Other Travel Tips It's Britain in the sun, you'll find lots of sunburnt people and pubs playing football matches Yes I know it well - my parents live 20 mins inland from there. Depending what you are looking for really. If you are a young Brit looking for some cheap loud nightlife the British way - you've found the right place. Benidorm was the Ibiza of the 80's apparently. There are loads of bars (for young and old) and tons of nightclubs which get packed out in summer. The beaches are beautiful and very safe. The city has a mixture of Spanish and British residents and their accompanying tapas/british restaurants. There is loads to do for families. Nearby is a fantastic sea world complex (dolphin and sea lion shows, all set against the mountains overlooking the beautiful mediterranean), can't recall the name. There is also a water park with pools and slides, great fun for everybody. Again, the name I forget sorry, but its very wellknown there. There are also nearby towns with a very Spanish, cultural feel. My favourite is Guadalest - 20 minutes into the mountains - the sight of an old fortification and a beautiful quaint village steeped in history. There are beautiful walks in the moutains, you can hire 4-wheel drive vehicles/go moutain climbing/hire bikes. Be sure to also visit the towns of Althea and Kalpe (resembles Rock of Gibraltar without the accompanying high prices). Basically, Benidorm is a great base for all the family to enjoy the local beaches and nearby attractions and beautiful mountain scenery. I love it there. Just like Croydon, but with more sun.
